I’ve been a WTR fan for years and recently was given the entire series as a gift. After watching every episode (more than once) I started looking for more things on line and found this website.

This is my first story; I hope you like it.

Mustangs – Missing Scenes

By Nssntrvlr

He leaned against the wall outside of her apartment door and willed himself to get his body back under control. Unfortunately all he could think about was the sight of her legs she had been showing…especially when she had crossed them and the material of her gown had crept even higher. He had told himself to be a gentleman but his eyes couldn’t seem to stop glancing over at her. The worst part of all was the fact that he was sure she had done it on purpose and positive that she was in there right now laughing at him because of how hurriedly he had left…almost forgetting his holster and gun in the process.

She stared at the closed door with a smug expression on her face…she finally knew that he was not as immune to her as he pretended to be. The look on his face when she’d had to remind him to grab his gun was priceless. She let out a happy sigh as she gathered up his coffee cup and carried it into her kitchen.

Before he could talk himself out of it he grabbed her spare key and let himself back in. She was standing in the kitchen with her back to him and he walked silently up behind her then slid his arms around her waist.

Letting out a semi startled shriek she turned in his arms saying, “You have got to quit scaring me like that! What are you doing back anyway? Did you forget something?”

Without answering he captured her lips with his and kissed her.

For just a second she was too stunned to do anything but then she wrapped her arms around him and returned his kisses. She quickly lost count of how many times their lips met and she felt the need to be even closer to him. Her hands went to his gun belt and she undid it and carefully lowered it to the floor. She tugged his shirt from his jeans and slid her hands under to feel the bare skin of his back.

He shuddered at her touch and even though he knew he was playing with fire he let his own hands mimic what hers were doing.

Emboldened by his response she unbuttoned his shirt and pushed it off his shoulders so she could run her hands over his bare chest. His ragged breathing told her he was enjoying it and she began to move her hands down, enjoying the feel of his rock hard abs.

Coming to his senses he grabbed her hands before they could go any lower and said, “Alex, we have to stop.”

Part of her knew he was right, but the other part wondered if she would ever get him this close again. She was certain that if she pushed the issue she could get him to give in, but was it worth risking what they already had? With a deep sigh she stooped down and picked up his shirt and gun belt, handed them to him then said, “I know you’re right, I’m sorry.”

“Sorry? For what?”

“For my behavior earlier, it’s just…”

“Just what?”

“I never know where I stand with you, one minute I feel like we’re getting closer and the next it’s like you’re pushing me away again. I guess I wanted to see if I could ruffle your feathers a little.”

Reaching out he ran his finger down her cheek saying, “My feathers are definitely ruffled, I’m sorry about the mixed signals but there are a lot of things you don’t know about me. One of the main things is that sex for me is not a casual thing; you may laugh but where we are right this minute is the closest I’ve been to a woman in a very long time; I’m talking years.”

“But Merilee…”

Shaking his head he replied, “Never went farther than a couple of kisses, I told you that.”

Staring into his eyes she saw the truth and the uncertainty in them and gently replied, “I would never laugh at you; what you just told me makes me feel extremely special.”

Pulling her tight against him he replied, “You are special, don’t ever doubt that…it’s just that…” Running his fingers through his hair he continued, “What I’m trying to say is that for the longest time the only two people I let close to me were Uncle Ray and CD, now there’s Trivette, but more importantly there’s you and while one part of me is saying it’s better if we just stay friends there is another part that wonders if we could be more. Does that make sense to you?”

“I understand exactly what you’re saying, I’ve had the same thoughts about you and I; but if I’m being totally honest...I’d like to be more than your friend, I’ve wanted that for a while now.”

Taking a deep breath he asked, “Then would you consider going out on a real date with me just the two of us?”

“Tell me when and where Cowboy.”

“Soon as I make the plans I’ll let you know, but sometime soon.”

“I’ll hold you to that.”

Reluctantly he put on his shirt, buttoned it up, then buckled his gun belt back on and said, “Be patient with me.” He winked at her then giving into the temptation he gave her a couple of mind blowing kisses before he pulled back saying, “This time I definitely better go”

When he left she got up and locked the deadbolt then pressed her hand against the door unaware that he was doing the exact same thing on the other side.

The next morning he walked into her office and seeing her secretary he said, “Good morning Myra, I know she’s in court, but I wanted to leave this for her.”

Glancing up the woman noticed the bouquet of flowers the red bearded ranger held and with a huge smile she responded, “Okay, who are you and what have you done with Cordell Walker?”

Shaking his head at her silliness he asked, “Can’t I bring her flowers without you making a huge deal out of it?”

“People are going to talk.”

“Well the only people who know about this are me, you and later on Alex…Alex and I aren’t at the stage yet where we’re ready to make any announcements, so if anyone starts talking I will know who told.”

“Point taken, my lips are sealed.”

Giving her a look of warning he laughed saying, “Good keep them that way.” He walked into Alex’s office and placed the flowers on her desk then reaching into his coat pocket he removed the card it contained and set it down beside the vase. Walking back out, he said, “Bye Myra.”

“So long Walker.” As the door closed behind him she whispered to herself, “I have a feeling I’m going to be seeing you a lot more often now.”

Alex was grateful when the judge called a break for lunch, it had been a grueling morning and she had a feeling the afternoon wasn’t going to be much better. Walking into her office she asked, “Any messages Myra?”

“No messages, but you did receive a delivery, it’s in your office.”

“Okay, thanks.” She opened the door and stopped in her tracks; she closed her eyes and opened them again as she realized she wasn’t seeing things, there really was a bouquet of flowers on her desk. She looked over her shoulder asking, “Who delivered these?”

“Sorry, I’ve been sworn to secrecy.”

Almost in a trance Alex walked on into her office and closed the door. She inhaled the scent of the flowers then pulled the card from the envelope. She smiled at the picture depicting a porch with a swing and opening it she saw Walker’s familiar handwriting.

What we’ve done…

We’ve talked, we’ve argued

We’ve comforted each other

We’ve drank coffee and hot chocolate

We’ve watched the sun set

What I’ve dreamed of…

Holding you

Kissing you

Watching the sun come up

Sharing breakfast

Hugging the card to her chest she didn’t even attempt to stop the tears that flowed down her cheeks; she’d had those same dreams herself.

When the outer door opened Myra looked up and smiled then motioned for him to go into Alex’s office. He saw the tears and going to her he asked, “What’s wrong?

Wrapping her arms around him she replied, “Happy tears Cowboy.”

He gave her a gentle kiss asking, “So you liked my surprise?”

“Very much so.”

Looking into her eyes he said, “I don’t know how long it’s going to take for Trivette and I to finish this case, but when it’s over you and I are definitely going to go somewhere special for dinner.”

“I’m looking forward to it.”

“So am I.”

She kissed him slowly before saying, “We better go; I need to get back to court and the sooner you get started the sooner you get finished.”

He gave her his famous half grin and added a little wink as he said, “Yes ma’am.”

They were both laughing as they walked out the door and Myra watched with a huge grin on her face as she thought, “Dang they make a cute couple, wonder how long it takes them to admit they’re in love?”
