Sharing Moments

"What'd ya pull me outta there for?"

"Jimmy, those two have been through quite an ordeal these last few days.

Especially Cordell. I think they are entitled to a few moments alone."

"Alright, alright. I have to admit I've been worried about Walker. I'm sure relieved Alex is going to be fine."

"Yeah, I'd hate for him to lose another woman he loves. I'm not sure even he could handle that."

C.D. decided to peek his head into Alex's room, Walker was sitting on the edge of the bed and they were embraced in a kiss. C.D. chuckled to himself. That's just what Cordell needed. He had kept his emotions bottled up the past couple of weeks. Comfort from Alex was exactly what that poor boy needed now. She had a way with him and C.D. suspected that she was meeting his emotional needs now in a way that no one else could.

"Come on Jimmy, let's go grab some coffee. Them two need a little more time."

Sitting over his coffee in the hospital cafeteria, Trivette broached the subject, "Do you think he's ever gonna get serious and ask her to marry him?  I mean he is so obviously in love with her. He talks about her all the time without even realizing he's bringing her up and sometimes, when we're driving, he'll get this smile on his face and I know he's thinking about her. I called him on it once and he just laughed and smiled."

"Well Jimmy, you know Walker does things in his own time. His timing is rarely my timing but it seems to work for him, and Alex. My guess is this entire ordeal has made him do some serious thinking."

"Yeah, you're right. Like I said, I'm just glad she's OK."

"Amen to that Jimmy."

They sat in silence for a while. Both taking a breather after the stressful, emotion packed ordeal they had been through the past few days.

"So, do you think it is safe to go back upstairs?"

"Well, I don't see why not. We've given them sometime and Cordell can't expect to monopolize her time forever," C.D. replied with a grin.  As they entered the room Walker still had his back to the door and was still sitting on the side of the bed with both of her hands in his. They were

silent just gazing at each other. Alex was beaming. C.D. cleared his throat,

"Hey you two..."

Walker stood up, still holding Alex's left hand between his. "Oh, hi guys.

Where did you disappear to?"

"We just wanted to grab a cup of coffee." Jimmy replied.

"Well, I'm glad that you are back. Alex and I have something we'd like to tell you."

This caught their attention. Could it be?

Walker cleared his throat, "Well, I've asked Alex to marry me."

C.D. and Jimmy jaws' both dropped.

Alex chimed in, "And I said yes!!!"

Both men just stood and stared for a moment. Then Jimmy let out a loud

"Hey man, congratulations!!!"

This broke the silence and hugs, kisses, handshakes and congratulations went around the room.
